The weekend an agent texted me for bylaws (and why we built HOA doc requests)

On a Saturday morning last spring I got a text from a real estate agent asking for our bylaws. I didn’t want to open my laptop, dig up the right PDF, and then send an attachment that might sit in someone’s inbox forever. Instead I sent the agent our HOA doc request link and finished my coffee.

Why the public doc request link matters

That simple link is what we call the "your HOA doc request link" — a public page on Blocbear at /b/{slug} where agents or anyone else can submit a request. It’s meant for the common, awkward moments: agents who need bylaws for a closing, neighbors looking for an architectural guideline, or attorneys checking a rule. The agent clicks the link, fills a short form, and we get a tidy request in our dashboard.

How we actually used it that Saturday

I opened the HOA doc requests page on my phone, confirmed the request showed up in our queue, then uploaded the bylaws later that afternoon from my desktop. The agent received a secure download link that expires after the window we set. The board has a record of the interaction. The agent had what they needed for the file. Everyone moved on.

It saved me time, reduced follow-ups, and kept our documents secure — all without a single PDF attached to a text thread.
